I think David's book is a must for anyone who is interested in the motion picture business. It is informative, well written and easy to read. The photos and stories are just great. The information one receives is priceless. For someone interested in entering the business, this book has a wealth of information. Most enjoyable.

David Macklin's book has certainly come in handy for me. Thanks to the book, I was able to ask director Robert Butler, who loves working with actors, some very good questions about the Stanislavski method, learn of different types of actors, and so forth. I love the anecdotes and quotes and the technical terms too. Never knew what the heck a "scrim was until I read David's book. I return to it again and again. Jonathan Etter

David, How wonderful to have found you on this website of yours. I remember you as a young man living in Greenhills, Ohio. I was in your brother, Clement's class at GHS (1953). I certainly hope he will be attending our 50th Reunion this July. It would be wonderful if you could attend with him. We have followed your career for many years and have enjoyed watching you act. We are looking forward to reading your book on acting.

I laughed, I cried, (there is some very beautiful and moving material from all sorts of professions aside from Macklin's expert input. I learned a lot (and I've been in the business for years) from this all inclusive book on acting, actors and all the people who do their part to make a movie. David Macklin is very honest and candid in his advice and instructions yet it is a "user friendly" book with many insights from many sources. A very enjoyable and interesting book by someone who has actually lived it, not just someone who writes about it. Great reading by someone like myself who isn't "in the biz" but has always been fascinated by it. Everyone can enjoy it, I know I did and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in acting, showbiz, behind-the-scenes info, etc..
